Rishma and Radit Start Their Internship Program in Loei, Thailand

Loei, Thailand — June 8, 2024 — Two students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (UMSIDA), Rishma Anggraini (Rishma) and Raditya Ferdi Riyanto (Radit), have begun their fourth-month internship program in Thailand (Loei PESAO) from June 1 to September 30, 2024. Both are sixth-semester students from English Education Study Program. In Thailand, the students will teach some of the affinities school at the Primary level expected can give new experiences, motivation, and a new spirit for the students in the school.

One of the participant, Radit has said that this program will enhance the participant student’s skills and abilities, especially in teaching English.

“I believe that this program could enhance our skills and abilities, especially in teaching English. Moreover, I hope that we would give a new experience and new color to the primary students especially, so that, they will be more motivated to learn English”.

Through this program, the students will have an opportunity to experience real-time teaching, especially in teaching English. Utilizing the effectiveness of this program, the University of Muhammadiyah has an opportunity to introduce their university to the international outlook. It is also for the school that is affiliated with this program that their students could gain a lot of experience in speaking with foreign teachers and have a new color in their learning. Those benefits will open other opportunities for collaboration within Indonesia, The University of Muhammadiyah especially, with Thailand even more with other countries.

The internship program commenced with a welcoming ceremony, accompanied by the signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and seminar on June 3, 2024, at Anuban Loei School, Muang Loei, Thailand. The event was attended by the Vice Governor of Loei Province, Mr. Anupang Kamphukaew, Director and Deputy Director of Loei PESAO, and Supervisor of Loei PESAO Dr. Wanida Simpol.

In this program, Rishma and Raditya have a valuable opportunity to teach at two different schools. Rishma is placed at Ban Loei Wangsai School in Phuluang District, while Raditya will teach at Anuban Chumchon Phukradueng School.

“We are very excited about this opportunity,” said Rishma. “Teaching abroad, especially in Thailand, will give us new insights and invaluable experiences in international education.”

This internship program provides direct teaching experience and opens opportunities for students to expand their professional networks, understand Thailand’s culture and education system, and enhance their English language skills through interaction with local students and teaching staff.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo hopes that their students’ participation in this program will positively impact and strengthen the relationship between the two educational institutions. The program is also expected to inspire more UMSIDA students to follow Rishma and Raditya’s footsteps in seeking international experience.

With high enthusiasm and dedication, Rishma and Raditya are ready to face the challenges over the next four months and give their best in teaching the students in Thailand. May their success in this program become a role model for other students and enhance UMSIDA’s reputation on the international stage.
